Tutorial: How to Make Rexlace Falls or Extensions
How to Make Rexlace Falls or Extensions
The below tutorial shows a pair of rexlace falls being made, but you can
also use it for extensions -- just braid your real hair instead of
braiding fake hair onto an elastic and repeat the other steps as normal.
What You will Need
- At least 100 yards of rexlace
- Synthetic hair
- Hair ties, lace, or whatever else you want to mount them on
Instructions
1. Make around 15-20 braids on your elastic. Seal the ends with a
lighter, a braid sealer, or finish them off with rubber bands.
2. Cut lengths of rexlace and tie them onto the braids, concentrating
most of the rexlace at the top and spacing them out more as you go down
the braid. You will get more volume if you use shorter pieces at the
top and longer ones as you work down, however you can also get a nice
layered effect if you use rexlace that is all the same length.
I usually put around 10-15 pieces at the top and tie a couple more on every 2-3 inches after that.
The most secure way to do tie the rexlace on is to poke it through the
braids, rather than simply tying it around them. The rexlace will be
easier to thread through if you cut the end into a point. If you decide
to do that, make sure to trim them when you're done. Otherwise, you'll
end up with sharp and uncomfortable hair.
3. Repeat for the rest of the braids on the fall.
