Solar Hair is a type of synthetic hair that changes color when exposed to direct sunlight. Unlike Thermal Hair, which changes by temperature, Solar Hair reacts to the light itself and not the heat from the sun. The main product line that we currently carry for solar hair is Mood Braid by RastAfri.
Mood Braid is low heat and can be sealed in boiling water. It won't shrink down as much as kanekalon does, but it will hold its shape once set. Mood Braid cannot withstand intense, dry heat and will melt if you use a curling iron or straightener on it.
Mood Braid will gradually stop changing color after around 3-6 months of wear. If you're using it for something that you expect to rewear multiple times, like dread extensions or a wig, it will eventually stop changing in the sun and will permanently stay on the indoor color.
This hair does not have an alkaline lye coating on it, but if you've got a sensitive scalp, it never hurts to do an ACV rinse anyway!
