DUE TO A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, IKS WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL AUGUST 29TH.
On June 28th, I almost died from blood loss. 4 days in the ICU, 3 surgeries, and 3 blood transfusions later, I am back home and on the way to a full recovery, but it's going to take a long time. Right now, my mobility is very limited and I can't lift anything over 15 lbs, so I'm not physically able to pack orders. The recovery time for the first 3 surgeries I had is about 6-8 weeks.
Here is a tentative timeline for when IKS will be back up and running:
July 2nd
Returns will be processed this week right on schedule. I have a family member picking them up and opening the packages, but I'm personally inspecting them and issuing refunds. Returns will continue to be processed on Friday afternoons/Saturday mornings each week like usual.
July 5th
Customer service hours resume! I most likely will not be available 8-12, but I will log in at least once per day Monday through Friday to respond to messages.
August 29th
IKS will be back open for business at 8 AM PDT on Monday, August 29th.
I have one more surgery coming up on September 6th, but it's a small outpatient procedure that only has a 24 hour recovery time. IKS will be closed on September 6th and 7th for that one.
Thank you for your patience, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
High Heat Festival Braid
Our High Heat Festival Braid is made from heat resistant synthetic fiber and is commonly used for festival and rave braid styles. It's quite durable and tough, has a heat resistance of 250°F (120°C), sometimes higher, and tends to be a little bit more slinky and slippery than kanekalon jumbo braid.
Due to the smoother texture and denser fiber, Festival Braid packs are less voluminous than packs of jumbo braid in the same weight. You can see a size comparison of Festival Braid next to different styles of jumbo braid here. If you're using it for box braids, we recommend getting a couple more packs than you normally would use; most of our customers use around 10-14 packs of Festival Braid for a full head of box braids.
Festival Braid can be used to make natural-looking dreads with a crochet hook, but it doesn't work well for the twist-and-seal style of synth dreads.
Boiling water usually isn't quite hot enough to seal Festival Braid. Festival Braid will not shrink down like kanekalon, and will stay quite soft even when it's set. You can more learn about working with Festival Braid here.
This hair does not have an alkaline lye coating on it, but if you've got a sensitive scalp, it never hurts to do an ACV rinse anyway!
