Marley braid is a kinky, sectioned type of braiding hair that loosely resembles puffy, untwisted dreadlocks. This hair is low heat, hot water set, and is commonly used for styles like marley twists, faux locs, and krinklepuff falls.
Most of our customers use around 4-6 packs of marley braid for marley twists, 10-15 packs for faux locs (or half that if you're only doing the wrapped outer portion with marley braid), and 3-4 packs for a pair of krinklepuff falls.
Most brands of marley braid do not actually say "marley braid" on the packaging. We carry the following brands and lines for marley braid:
They are all the same type of hair, just with different names.
We recommend doing an AVC rinse before installing to remove the alkaline lye coating on the fiber.
RastAfri's "Malibu Afro Kinky" marley braid does not have the coating on it, but if you've got a sensitive scalp, it never hurts to do one anyway! :)
