The below tutorial explains how to make temporary, clip-in striped extensions, also known as "coon tails" or "raccoon tails." If you're daring, you can also use this method to add stripes to your real hair; just skip the first two steps.

What You will Need
- Three inches of wefted human hair - available here!
- Two weave clips - available here!
- A needle and thread - available here!
- Tape
- A piece of cardboard
- Hair dye - available here!
- Latex gloves - available here!

Instructions
1. Cut your 3 inch piece of hair in half. Each half will be a single streak. For thicker streaks, use 6 inches instead and use two layers of hair instead of one.

2. Sew the sections of hair onto your weave clips. If the clip has holes in it, sew through each hole. If your cliips don't have holes across the top, you can sew through the teeth in the comb.

3. Straighten the hair. This step may be optional if the hair you're using is completely straight already, but most wefted hair will be a little bunched up at the top from the packaging so it is a good idea to straighten it before you dye it.

4. Wrap pieces of tape around the hair where you want your stripes to be. The pieces of tape are the spots that will be left undyed. Be very careful when wrapping and make sure the hair stays straight. If your tape is uneven, your stripes will come out crooked.

5. Get out your cardboard to use as a work surface. Put on your latex gloves and apply the dye to the exposed hair in between the pieces of tape.

6. Let the dye set according to the instructions on the packaging.

7. Rinse the dye out of the bottom stripe by holding it directly under the stream of water. Make sure you have rinsed out all of the dye, then remove the bottom piece of tape.

8. Continue onto the next stripe. Be careful to hold the rest of the streak out of the water to keep the dye from bleeding onto the parts that are supposed to be left undyed.

9. Repeat steps 7-8 until all of your dye has been rinsed. Lay the streaks out to dry.

10. Once the hair is dry, straighten your streaks and then they're done!
